To view ASHRAE 90.1 prescriptive results for the Building Envelope

  1. Run an ASHRAE 90.1 calculation.

    The calculation settings dialog opens.

  2. Select the Building Envelope tab from the dialog.
  3. Review the Prescriptive Option Compliance Summary. Information about the main building envelope compliance requirements is displayed.

This report summarizes the building compliance with the main building envelope requirements, including moisture and climate zone data, a determination if the Prescriptive Method is applicable with the project building, and if the building glazing complies with the prescribed glazing limits.

  4. Select Glazing from the selection panel (left panel).
  5. Review the total vertical fenestration/wall areas and glazing percentage results for each space (room) type in the building. Compare the building glazing percentage with the permitted glazed areas. If the glazing percentage does not exceed 50% of the gross wall area (for each space type), the building in compliance. If glazing percentage exceeds the 50% glazing limit, then a change in the building fenestrations should be considered, or a different compliance path should be pursued.
  6. Repeat the last step for skylights (rooflights). The standard specifies the glazing limit for skylights as being 5% of the total building roof area.
